RSC Representative in Thailand
HRH Princess Chulabhorn CChem Hon FRSC
Dr Wilai Siriwatcharapiboon
Dr Deanpen Japrung, MRSC
I am currently a researcher from National Nanotechnology Center (NANOTEC). I obtained BSc degree in Medical technology and Master degree in Biochemistry. My master thesis focused on protein engineering of DHFR enzyme, which is antimalarial drug, to improve solubility for protein crystallization. In 2010, after finishing my DPhil in chemical biology from University of Oxford, under supervision of Prof. Hagan Bayley in the field of biological nanopore sequencing, I was postdoctoral researcher in the department of chemistry, Imperial College London and worked on applications of solid-state nanopore for biological sensing.
Since 2012 I has moved to NANOTEC as a researcher in the Nanomolecular Target Discovery laboratory (TDI). My work is focusing on development of diagnostic platforms for several diseases (diabetes mellitus, cervical cancer and tuberculosis) and my research has been supported by Health Systems Research Institute (HSRI), National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT) and Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC).
As a RSC Representative, I would like to bring RSC members in Thailand together to regularly meet up and discuss about chemistry research in Thailand and around the world. The aim of our meeting is also building a research network and set up events that promote science and technology in our area and nearby.
